Crimp connectors are helpful in situations where you want a quick disconnect. If that is the case, I usually crimp, then solder the crimp.Use an electrical lubricant like deoxit on the crimp connection at the least, or dielectric grease. If it is outdoor (like under the hood) there are connections that sheath themselves and usually have silicone in them. Always make sure the iron gets hot enough, as does the surface and do a thorough job.
